Independent Legal Services (2021)

Independent Legal Services provides an alternative to finalising a divorce through courts and solicitors - instead, they provide services to prepare and complete divorce documents, based on an agreement the couple has reached between themselves with the help of a mediator.

This approach allows divorcing couples to avoid costly and stressful legal battles, and implement a legally-binding agreement which is fair to all parties, including children.

Key Requirements

  • An easy-to-navigate site, which allows people going through a stressful time of life to find the information they need quickly and clearly
  • Clear and easy to find details of the services offered, and costs
  • A news section, which ILS can easily update with new articles
  • A facility for people to contact ILS
  • The ability to download documents such as ILS's Terms of Business
  • A facility to pay all or part of the cost of a service via card
  • ILS should be able to manage all the content on the site, so it can be updated with the latest information, prices, and amends to service, as required

The ILS site is a rebrand and rebuild of an earlier site, this time using CraftCMS. Craft provides an easy to navigate admin area, giving full control to the site owner, with no need for code or any specific expertise.

Each page is constructed via a 'content builder', which allows different types of 'blocks' to be added and reordered - such a titles, paragraph text, standout boxes, testimonials and image galleries.

The site is primarily a single-page design, allowing visitors to simply read down the page to find all the information they need. Alternatively, key sections are shown in the site navigation, so people can quickly skip to a specific section.

Every page is fully responsive, so the site can be viewed as easily on a mobile device as a computer screen.

Additional Work

As part of ILS's rebrand, I also created a number of forms and documents with ILS's new branding, which they provide in PDF format for their clients to provide various details. These forms can either be printed off and filled in by hand, or filled in electronically.

ILS's logo was also updated with their new look - designed by my good friend Daz at Darren Ellis Photography. His site is focused on his sports photography, but he's a great graphic designer too.
